Zach Klein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology. Zach is originally from Boulder, CO and completed his undergraduate degree at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. He continued his academic career at the University of Idaho where he received a M.S. in 2015 and a Ph.D. in 2019. Zach was an Assistant Professor of Fish Ecology at Emporia State University, KS prior to arriving at New Mexico State University.
Dr. Klein’s research is primarily focused on addressing applied and basic questions surrounding the ecology of freshwater fishes. He and his students use field observations, experiments, and various quantitative techniques to address questions associated with the population ecology of sport and non-game fishes to better inform their management and conservation.
