Dr. Fitsum Abadi Gebreselassie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology, NMSU. Dr. Gebreselassie received his PhD from University of Bern in Switzerland and completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) and Center for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology (CEFE-CNRS, France). Prior to his current position, Dr. Gebreselassie was a lecturer in the School of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
Dr. Gebreselassie’s research interests lie in the area of statistical ecology with particular emphasis on capture-recapture models, integrated population models (IPMs), occupancy models and Bayesian inference. He currently teaches upper-division quantitative courses including population ecology and ecological biometry.
